Day 3: Lorca

by andrewwelch

Posted from Lorca, Region of Murcia, Spain.

At Lorca I sheltered from the sun under a huge road bridge beside a water deposit. There was a peculiar factory-like building next to the water deposit that appeared abandoned. Some kids were throwing stones and playing beside it.

In the town itself the wide river area was built up with a large water capacity. Approaching this there was a girl crying and then being consoled by her presumably boyfriend sitting amongst an area of low-level reed growth.

There was only a small trickle of black water running down a concrete concave channel. People were using the space for leisure – playing volleyball and walking.

I found a guesthouse called ‘Hotel Felix’. I walked through the town centre passed old men, families and groups of people chatting in parks, talking on their phones, and walking around with varying levels of intensity.

When I got to my room at the Hotel, there was a realisation of needing to rest. In the shower, I realised I had some nasty blisters on my right foot. I also didn’t feel well and that evening I felt generally weak.
